Main Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of Minari (Korean Water Parsley) (approx. 150-200g)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 bowl of Warm Cooked Rice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the fresh minari. Trim the roots under running water and wash thoroughly between the leaves to completely remove any dirt or debris. To preserve the minari’s fresh aroma, avoid washing it for too long.

Step 1

Step 2

After washing, drain the minari well on a colander. If there’s remaining water, the seasoning might become diluted. Gently pat it dry with your hands or use paper towels for better results.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious seasoning for the minari salad. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce (regular or seasoned), 3 Tbsp gochugaru, 3 Tbsp vinegar, 2 Tbsp oligodang (or corn syrup), 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and a pinch of sesame seeds. Mix them well.

Step 3

Step 4

Pour the prepared seasoning evenly over the drained minari.

Step 4

Step 5

After adding the seasoning, gently toss the minari with your hands, being careful not to mash the leaves. It’s important to mix gently so that each leaf is coated well with the seasoning.

Step 5

Step 6

Taste the salad after the initial seasoning. Adjust the flavor to your preference by adding more ingredients if needed. For example, add more vinegar for tanginess, more oligodang for sweetness, or a pinch of salt to balance the taste. (The given seasoning ratio is a basic guideline; adjusting to your personal taste is key!)

Step 6

Step 7

Your delicious minari salad is now ready! The fresh, herbaceous scent of minari will fill your senses.

Step 7

Step 8

To make bibimbap, set aside enough minari salad to mix with your rice, and transfer the rest to a separate serving dish.

Step 8

Step 9

Place a generous portion of the fragrant minari salad onto a bowl of warm rice. Drizzle with about 1/2 Tbsp of sesame oil, and top with a perfectly fried egg. Mix everything together with a spoon for a truly delicious bibimbap experience!
