Main Ingredients- 1 sirloin steak (approx. 150-200g)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 leek
- Cooked rice (warm)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, pat the sirloin steak dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm). Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat with a little cooking oil or butter. Sear the steak for 1-2 minutes per side until nicely browned. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become tough. Remove the cooked steak from the pan and set aside.
Step 2
Peel and dice the onion into 2-3 cm cubes. Cut the white part of the leek into large pieces. Using the same pan you cooked the steak in, or a clean one, add about 1 Tbsp of cooking oil and heat over medium heat. Add the diced onion and leeks, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the leeks release their aroma.
Step 3
Once the onions and leeks are sautéed, return the seared steak to the pan. Stir-fry together for about 1 more minute, ensuring the steak is well combined with the vegetables.
Step 4
Now, let’s make the delicious steak cubes sauce. Add 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce and 1 Tbsp of tonkatsu sauce to the pan. Stir-fry quickly to coat all ingredients evenly with the sauce. Continue to cook for 1-2 minutes so the sauce evenly coats everything.
Step 5
Finally, increase the heat to high and stir-fry rapidly for about 30 seconds to 1 minute to enhance the sauce’s flavor. Be cautious to prevent the sauce from burning. Remove from heat and sprinkle with 1 tsp of black pepper. Serve the finished steak cubes over the warm rice.
Step 6
For an extra touch, sprinkle with 1/2 tsp of sesame seeds. Your delicious steak cubes rice bowl is now complete! Enjoy your meal!
