Flavorful Steak Bibimbap (Rice Pot)
Recommended Rice Pot Dish: Steak Bibimbap (Using Le Creuset Rice Pot & Bespoke Induction)
A simple yet delicious and nutritious rice pot dish you can whip up with steak!
Rice Pot Ingredients- 2 cups rice
- 2 sheets kelp (about 5x5cm)
- 2 tsp Tsuyu (Japanese dipping sauce)
- 2 tsp finely minced carrot
- 3 tsp butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the 2 cups of rice lightly under running water. Gently rinse without breaking the grains and soak in 1.5 cups of water for about 30 minutes. Soaking the rice beforehand is the secret to fluffy and delicious cooked rice.
Step 2
Transfer the soaked rice to your rice pot (e.g., Le Creuset rice pot). Adjust the water level as you normally would for cooking rice (e.g., 2 cups of water for 2 cups of rice, or 2.5 cups for a softer texture).
Step 3
Add 2 tsp of minced carrot and 2 tsp of Tsuyu to the pot. Place the 2 sheets of kelp on top of the rice and water. Kelp adds umami to the rice and makes the grains more lustrous.
Step 4
Pat the 300g of beef chuck flap tail dry with paper towels. Season evenly on both sides with 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of black pepper. Gently rub with your hands to ensure the seasoning penetrates well.
Step 5
Lightly brush the seasoned beef with 1 tsp of olive oil. This will help the steak cook up tender and juicy. (Optional: Wrapping it in plastic wrap and letting it rest in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes will further tenderize the meat).
Step 6
Now, cook the rice. If using a Samsung Bespoke Induction range, select the ‘Cook’ mode and use the temperature control function. (Start on medium heat, then reduce to low heat once boiling, and steam for 15-20 minutes).
Step 7
While the rice is cooking, heat a pan over medium heat, add a little olive oil, and place the seasoned steak in the pan. Sear both sides to your desired doneness. (Recommended: Crispy exterior, medium-rare interior!).
Step 8
Once the steak is cooked, let it rest for a moment before slicing it into bite-sized pieces (about 1-1.5cm thick). When the rice is done, top it with the sliced steak, 3 tsp of steak sauce, and 3 tsp of butter. The melting butter will add richness to the rice and steak.
