Main Ingredients
  • 1 pack Sea Lettuce (Pahrae)
  • A small amount of Radish (optional)

Seasoning Ingredients
  • A pinch of Coarse Salt (for salting radish)
  • 3 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • A sprinkle of Toasted Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In this recipe, we’ll be adding a bit of radish, which is an optional ingredient, to the sea lettuce for extra texture and flavor. If you don’t have radish, the salad will still be delicious with just sea lettuce. However, if you’re only using sea lettuce, consider adding 3 tablespoons of water at the end for a softer consistency.

Step 2

First, thinly julienne the radish. Sprinkle a pinch of coarse salt over the julienned radish and let it sit for about 15 minutes to lightly pickle. This step helps to reduce any bitterness from the radish and enhances its crispness.

Step 3

Rinse the sea lettuce thoroughly under cold running water multiple times to ensure it’s clean. After washing, gently squeeze out as much water as possible with your hands. This step is crucial to prevent the salad from becoming watery.

Step 4

Lightly rinse the salted radish under running water to remove excess salt. Drain the radish on a sieve. It’s best to drain it adequately without letting it become completely dry.

Step 5

In a mixing bowl, combine the well-squeezed sea lettuce and the drained radish. Now it’s time to add the delicious seasonings.

Step 6

Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of vinegar for a tangy kick, 3 tablespoons of sugar for sweetness, and 2 tablespoons of sesame oil for a nutty aroma. Generously sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top. Gently toss everything together with your hands until the ingredients are well combined and coated with the dressing. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the sea lettuce mushy. This completes the sea lettuce salad!

Step 7

The aromatic scent of sea lettuce beautifully complements the sweet and sour flavors, resulting in a wonderfully appetizing sea lettuce salad. Placing a spoonful on top of your rice is an absolute delight!
