Ingredients
- Green Onion: 1 small stalk (finely chopped, focus on the white part)
- Cheongyang Peppers: 2 (adjust to your spice preference, you can add more or omit)
- Perilla Oil: 2 Tbsp (the key ingredient! Use fresh, good quality oil)
- Soy Sauce: 5 Tbsp (regular or seasoned soy sauce works)
- Gochugaru (Korean Chili Flakes): 1/2 Tbsp (for color and a mild kick)
- Minced Garlic: 1/2 Tbsp (freshly minced garlic offers the best aroma)
- Toasted Sesame Seeds: a pinch (for a final nutty touch)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the aromatics that will enhance the sauce’s flavor: green onion and Cheongyang peppers. Finely chop the green onion, concentrating on the white parts. For the Cheongyang peppers, remove the seeds and mince them finely. Place these prepped vegetables into a mixing bowl.
Step 2
Now, let’s create the delicious sauce! To the bowl with the prepared vegetables, add 5 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1/2 Tbsp of gochugaru, and the star of this recipe, 2 Tbsp of perilla oil. Don’t forget to add 1/2 Tbsp of minced garlic for an extra layer of aroma.
Step 3
Finally, sprinkle in a pinch of toasted sesame seeds for a delightful nutty finish. Using a spoon or spatula, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Your flavorful perilla oil dipping sauce is now ready! Enjoy it immediately with freshly roasted gim. It’s also fantastic spooned over a bowl of rice for a simple yet satisfying meal.
