Ingredients
  • 1 can (150g) tuna, drained
  • 5 perilla leaves
  • 20g carrot (approx. 1/5 medium carrot)
  • 1 stalk green onion (white part)
  • 2 Korean chili peppers (optional, for a hint of spice)
  • 1/2 medium onion (approx. 50g)
  • 2 Tbsp curry powder
  • 1 large egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Generous amount of cooking oil (for frying)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients for your delicious Curry Tuna Pancakes. Feel free to use up any leftover vegetables you have in your refrigerator!

Step 2

Finely mince the carrot, onion, perilla leaves, green onion, and Korean chili peppers. You can use a food processor or chop them by hand. Mincing them finely will help the pancake batter bind well and result in a softer texture.

Step 3

Drain the oil completely from the canned tuna. Thoroughly draining the oil is crucial to ensure the pancakes are not greasy and turn out delicately flavored.

Step 4

In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, finely minced vegetables, egg, curry powder, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.

Step 5

Using a spatula or spoon, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, forming the tuna pancake batter. Kneading the mixture slightly will help the ingredients bind together nicely.

Step 6

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Scoop about 1-2 tablespoons of the batter onto the pan for each pancake. Gently press down with the back of the spoon to form round, flat shapes. Avoid making them too thick so they cook through evenly.

Step 7

Maintain medium-low heat. Once one side is golden brown, flip the pancake and cook the other side until it is also golden brown and slightly crispy. Cooking them evenly on both sides will result in perfectly cooked Curry Tuna Pancakes.

Step 8

You can create such delicious pancakes without any flour! They are easily digestible, making them easy on your stomach, and the curry aroma will stimulate your appetite. Enjoy these healthy low-carb, high-fat (Keto) side dishes. They are also a big hit as a snack for kids!
