Elevated Instant Ramen: Deliciously Spiced Up with Garlic, Miso, and Pepper
Transform Your Instant Ramen Game: The Secret to Deeper Flavor with Minced Garlic, Miso, and Pepper
Anyone can cook instant ramen, but adding minced garlic, a touch of miso paste, and a dash of pepper can elevate its taste significantly! If you have dried seaweed, adding that will bring even more depth to the broth. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any on hand today, but it’s a fantastic addition to try next time!
Main Ingredients- 2 packs instant ramen
- Scallions, chopped to your liking
- 1 Korean green chili pepper, thinly sliced
- Pre-cooked steak ham, sliced into bite-sized pieces
Flavor Enhancers- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp miso paste
- A pinch of black pepper (freshly ground)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp miso paste
- A pinch of black pepper (freshly ground)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by preparing your aromatics and additions: thinly slice the scallions and Korean green chili pepper. Cut the steak ham into manageable, bite-sized pieces. Measure out your minced garlic, miso paste, and have your pepper ready. This prep work makes the cooking process smooth and enjoyable.
Step 2
In a pot, bring the water for two servings of ramen to a rolling boil. This is typically around 1000ml or 4 cups. Once the water is vigorously boiling, carefully add the ramen noodles and the soup base (powdered soup packet) for both servings.
Step 3
As the water returns to a boil, add all the prepared ingredients to the pot: the sliced scallions, green chili pepper, and steak ham. Then, stir in the flavor-boosting ingredients: the minced garlic, miso paste, and a sprinkle of black pepper. Mix well to distribute.
Step 4
While the noodles are cooking and nearing doneness, crack one egg directly into the simmering broth. For a prettier presentation and distinct egg white texture, avoid stirring the egg. If you prefer your egg mixed into the broth, feel free to whisk it lightly before adding.
Step 5
Continue to simmer the ramen for another minute or two, allowing all the flavors to meld together beautifully. The broth should be bubbling gently. Once everything looks and smells delicious, your special ramen is ready to be served! Enjoy this flavorful upgrade.
