Main Ingredients

  • 4 packets of Ottogi 3-Minute Curry
  • 300g beef skirt steak (or your preferred cut like chuck flap tail)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 400g store-bought tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce
  • 1 Tbsp chicken stock (or 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce)
  • Olive oil, for sautéing

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by preparing your aromatics and protein. Peel and thinly slice the medium onion (about 0.5cm thick). Cut the 300g of beef skirt steak into bite-sized pieces, approximately 2-3cm. Ensure the pieces aren’t too large, as this will affect cooking time.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Sauté until the onions become translucent and fragrant. This step is crucial for developing a deeper flavor base for your curry.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the onions have softened, add the prepared beef to the pan. Season the beef lightly with salt and pepper for an initial flavor boost. Sauté the beef until it’s no longer pink and has a nice sear. Avoid overcooking at this stage to keep the meat tender and juicy.

Step 3

Step 4

When the beef is cooked through and no pink remains, it’s time to add the curry base. Open and add the four packets of Ottogi 3-Minute Curry directly into the pan. Stir well to combine the curry with the sautéed onions and beef, ensuring no clumps form.

Step 4

Step 5

Next, pour in the 400g of store-bought tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce. (Alternatively, if using a can of whole peeled tomatoes, mash them and add about 1.5 cups.) The tomato sauce will add a wonderful depth of flavor and a slight tang that complements the curry beautifully. Mix everything together thoroughly.

Step 5

Step 6

Bring the curry mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir in 1 tablespoon of chicken stock. If chicken stock is unavailable, 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce works as an excellent substitute. This addition boosts the umami and overall richness of the dish. Stir well once more, and let it simmer for another 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Your upgraded, delicious curry is now ready to serve!
