Main Ingredients- Mokuchon Frank Sausages: Appropriate amount
- Well-fermented Kimchi: 1/2 head equivalent
- Green Onion: 1/2 stalk
- Cooking Oil: 2 Tbsp
- Soy Sauce: 1 Tbsp
- Fine Gochugaru (Korean chili powder): 1 Tbsp
- Sugar: 1/2 Tbsp
- Instant Rice: 1 pack
- Egg: 1
- Seaweed Flakes: A pinch
- Sesame Seeds: A pinch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the green onion thoroughly, split it in half lengthwise, and then slice it into 5cm pieces. Using both the white and green parts will enhance the flavor.
Step 2
Slice the Mokuchon frank sausages in half lengthwise, and then thinly slice them into approximately 0.5cm thick pieces. Slicing them thinly helps them integrate well with the kimchi during stir-frying and improves the texture.
Step 3
Place the well-fermented kimchi in a bowl and finely chop it into about 1cm pieces using kitchen scissors. If your kimchi is too sour, you can slightly increase the amount of sugar to balance the taste.
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium-low heat with 2 Tbsp of cooking oil. Add the sliced green onions and stir-fry slowly until they become fragrant and lightly golden, releasing their aroma. Then, add the sliced sausages and stir-fry together. Pour in 1 Tbsp of soy sauce and 1/2 Tbsp of sugar to add depth of flavor.
Step 5
Once the green onions and sausages are nicely browned, add the finely chopped kimchi and 1 Tbsp of fine gochugaru. Stir-fry until the kimchi softens and becomes fragrant, ensuring the flavors meld. It’s important to balance the sourness of the kimchi and enhance its vibrant color at this stage.
Step 6
Add 1 pack of hot instant rice to the pan. Using a spatula, stir-fry and mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the kimchi and sausage mixture evenly coats every grain of rice. Breaking up any clumps of rice is key to achieving a fluffy texture.
Step 7
Transfer the delicious kimchi fried rice to a serving plate. In a separate hot pan with a little cooking oil, fry one egg. A sunny-side-up or over-easy egg with a runny yolk makes it even more delightful.
Step 8
Gently place the perfectly fried egg on top of the prepared kimchi fried rice.
Step 9
Finally, sprinkle a pinch of savory seaweed flakes and sesame seeds over everything. This simple yet satisfying Mokuchon Sausage Kimchi Fried Rice is complete and requires no other side dishes! Enjoy a quick and elegant meal.
