Effortless Rice Cooker Ramen: The Secret to Chewy Noodles
How to Cook Delicious Ramen in Your Rice Cooker – Easy for Everyone!
Did you know you can cook ramen in a rice cooker? It’s incredibly convenient because you don’t need to constantly watch it, allowing you to do other things while it cooks. Personally, I find the noodles to be chewier and tastier than when cooked in a typical ramen pot. This recipe is perfect for beginners and guarantees a delicious bowl of ramen every time!
Ingredients- 1 packet of ramen noodles
- 2 cups (approx. 550ml) of water
- 1 fresh egg
- A small amount of chopped green onions (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, pour 550ml of water into the inner pot of your rice cooker. If you’re unsure about the measurement, think of it as about two standard mugs (around 250ml each) plus a fifth of a mug more. *Using boiling water, rather than cold, will help enhance the ramen’s flavor.
Step 2
Add the ramen noodles, soup base, and dried vegetable mix to the boiling water in the rice cooker. Then, carefully crack the egg directly on top. (You can also whisk the egg beforehand, but placing it whole on top helps prevent it from sticking to the bottom and keeps the noodles from clumping.) Now, select your rice cooker’s ‘Reheat’ or ‘Cook’ function and set the cooking time to 9 minutes. While some advanced rice cookers have a dedicated ‘Ramen’ setting, this method works perfectly for standard models. *Cooking in a rice cooker tends to result in a well-done egg, but it contributes to the wonderfully chewy noodle texture. *Placing the egg on top of the noodles or lightly whisking it before cooking can further prevent sticking to the bottom.
Step 3
Voila! Your delicious ramen is ready. Carefully remove the inner pot from the rice cooker, transfer the ramen to a bowl, and garnish with a sprinkle of chopped green onions. Enjoy your wonderfully chewy ramen, cooked to perfection in your rice cooker!
