Sausage Stir-fry Ingredients

  • 250g thawed white sausage
  • 40g onion (sliced)
  • 1 handful of chives (cut into approx. 5cm lengths)
  • 1 handful of bean sprouts (rinsed clean)
  • 1 Tbsp perilla oil (deulgireum)
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp perilla powder (deulkkae garu)

Special Dipping Sauce

  • 0.5 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 0.5 Tbsp doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
  • 0.5 Tbsp vinegar
  • 0.5 Tbsp perilla powder (deulkkae garu)
  • 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp maesil extract (plum extract)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 0.5 Tbsp perilla oil (deulgireum)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 250g of thawed white sausage. It’s best to cut the sausage into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice 40g of onion. Evenly spread the prepared sausage and sliced onion at the bottom of your rice cooker pot. These ingredients will steam and become tender, harmonizing beautifully with the sausage.

Now it’s time to season the sausage and onion. Sprinkle 0.25 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, 1 Tbsp perilla powder, and a pinch of black pepper evenly over the ingredients. These seasonings will enhance the flavor of the sausage and add richness.

Next, we’ll add fresh vegetables. Prepare a handful of clean bean sprouts and a handful of chives. Arrange the bean sprouts so they reach the bottom of the pot, and then place the chives, cut into about 5cm lengths, evenly over the bean sprouts. The moisture and aroma released from the vegetables will steam and cook with the sausage, making it even more delicious.

Don’t forget the perilla leaves for added flavor! Slice a handful of perilla leaves and scatter them evenly over the vegetables. Then, sprinkle 0.25 tsp salt, a pinch of pepper, and 1 Tbsp perilla oil evenly over everything. If you don’t have perilla oil, sesame oil will also work well. Gently press down to help the ingredients meld together.

Now it’s time to cook using the rice cooker. Adjust the settings according to your rice cooker model. If you’re using a Cuckoo rice cooker, select the ‘Reheat’ function and cook for 9 minutes. If you have a Cuchen rice cooker, set the ‘Multi-steam’ function to 15 minutes, but stop and turn it off after just 10 minutes. This steaming method will result in moist and tender ingredients.

While the sausage is steaming, let’s make a delicious dipping sauce! In a bowl, combine 0.5 Tbsp gochujang, 0.5 Tbsp doenjang, 0.5 Tbsp perilla powder, 0.5 Tbsp vinegar, 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp maesil extract, 1 tsp sugar, and 0.5 Tbsp perilla oil. Stir everything together until well combined to create your flavorful sauce.

Carefully remove the steamed sausage and vegetables from the rice cooker and mix them together well. Check to make sure the sausage and onions at the bottom have cooked through and are tender. The vegetables and sausage will be beautifully combined, creating a visually appealing white sausage dish.
