Ingredients

  • 2 slices sandwich bread
  • 3 frankfurter sausages
  • 4 slices processed cheese
  • 50g cabbage
  • 0.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • Pepper
  • A little oil
  • A little whole grain mustard sauce
  • Ketchup
  • A little garlic dipping sauce
  • A little parsley flakes

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Please prepare all the ingredients for the dish. Having the sausages, cabbage, and cheese prepped will make the cooking process much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Blanch the frankfurter sausages in boiling water for about 1-2 minutes. This helps remove impurities and makes the sausages more tender. Rinse the blanched sausages under cold water, pat them dry, and then make 3-4 shallow cuts along the length. Lightly oil a heated pan and sear the sausages on both sides until golden brown to enhance their flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

We’ll use the processed cheese slices to create a beautiful look for the open sausage bread. Cut 2 of the 4 cheese slices in half to make rectangular shapes, and cut the remaining 2 slices diagonally to form triangles. This arrangement will look much more appealing on top of the bread.

Step 3

Step 4

Thinly shred the cabbage after washing it thoroughly. Heat a little oil in a pan, add the shredded cabbage, oyster sauce, and a pinch of pepper. Stir-fry briefly until the cabbage is slightly wilted but still retains a slight crispness.

Step 4

Step 5

Lightly oil a dry pan or a pan heated over low heat. Toast one side of the sandwich bread slices until they are golden brown and slightly crisp. This step helps the bread maintain its texture and prevents it from becoming soggy.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the bread slices are toasted, cut each one in half to make them easier to handle and assemble.

Step 6

Step 7

Now, let’s assemble the open sausage bread. Spread a thin layer of whole grain mustard sauce on the toasted side of each bread half. Layer the rectangular processed cheese slices on top, followed by the stir-fried cabbage. Finally, place the seared sausages neatly on top of the cabbage.

Step 7

Step 8

After placing the sausages, artfully arrange the triangular cheese slices on top of each sausage. As the cheese melts, it will help hold all the ingredients together.

Step 8

Step 9

Lightly grease a pan with a little oil. Carefully place the assembled open sausage bread onto the pan. Cover with a lid and cook over very low heat just until the cheese has melted completely. This gentle cooking process will also toast the untoasted side of the bread to a nice golden brown.

Step 9

Step 10

By cooking slowly over low heat, the cheese will melt beautifully, and the bottom of the bread will become perfectly golden brown and crisp, while the inside remains soft. Remember to adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.

Step 10

Step 11

Finally, drizzle ketchup and garlic dipping sauce over the melted cheese according to your preference. Sprinkle generously with parsley flakes for a fresh finish. Your delicious open sausage bread is now complete! Enjoy it while it’s warm!
