How About a Quick Dumpling Rice Bowl with Frozen Dumplings?

These days, with the weather fluctuating between rain and sun, it’s easy to feel drained. I can’t seem to turn off the air conditioner all day, especially with the kids around. The humidity makes everything sticky and raises the general mood of discomfort. Today, I’m going to introduce a recipe using frozen dumplings: a ‘Dumpling Rice Bowl’ that I often make for myself. Whether you use pan-fried or boiled dumplings, as long as you have dumplings, you can easily and deliciously make this dish. Dumplings are always delicious, no matter how you cook them, right? Whether pan-fried, steamed, or deep-fried, it’s a 100% guaranteed delicious food! My husband and I love them, so we always have a bag in the freezer. While they’re great on their own, this time I decided to use some Bibigo dumplings I had left and whip up this quick meal. You don’t have to stand in front of the stove and struggle; with just a microwave, you can make this easily without breaking a sweat. Let me show you how to enjoy a delicious meal even when you’re dining alone!

Ingredients
  • 4 frozen dumplings
  • 1 bowl of rice
  • 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • Shredded pizza cheese, to taste

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare about 3 to 4 frozen dumplings. If the dumplings are small, you can use a few more. Place the dumplings in a microwave-safe bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes with a fork or skewer. Microwave for about 3 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.

Step 2

Once the dumplings are cooked, carefully remove them from the microwave. Using kitchen scissors, cut the dumplings into small, bite-sized pieces. Be sure to chop them finely so the filling is evenly distributed.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, add 1 bowl of cooked rice and the chopped dumplings. Add 1 tablespoon of gochujang and 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil. Mix everything together thoroughly until well combined. If you prefer not to have cheesy or oily flavors, I highly recommend trying it at this stage! The combination of spicy gochujang and savory sesame oil is wonderfully balanced, making it a complete and satisfying dish on its own.

Step 4

For those who love cheese, generously sprinkle shredded pizza cheese over the mixed rice. Then, microwave for another 1 to 2 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your microwave’s power, so keep an eye on it until the cheese is perfectly melted.

Step 5

Voila! Your easy Dumpling Rice Bowl is ready! This dish offers a delightful variety of flavors depending on the type of frozen dumplings you choose. If you use meat dumplings, you’ll enjoy their rich savory taste. If you opt for kimchi dumplings, you’ll experience the exciting spicy kick and crunchy texture of kimchi. Enjoy exploring different flavors!
