  • 2/3 fresh tomato
  • 1/2 small onion
  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Cooking Instructions

First, prepare the avocado. For a ripe avocado, insert a knife around the seed lengthwise and twist to separate the fruit into two halves. You can easily remove the seed by carefully piercing it with the tip of your knife and twisting. Gently scoop out the soft flesh from the skin using a spoon.

Place the avocado flesh into a bowl. Using a fork or a mashing tool, mash the avocado to your desired consistency. Leaving some small chunks will provide a more pleasant texture. You can mash it into about 1cm pieces or even dice it for a delightful bite.

Prepare half of a small onion by peeling it and mincing it very finely. If the raw onion’s pungency is a concern, you can soak the minced onion in cold water for a few minutes, then thoroughly drain it. This will maintain its crispness while reducing the sharp flavor.

Prepare 2/3 of a fresh tomato. Remove the stem from the tomato and carefully cut out the seedy core. Removing the seeds helps prevent the guacamole from becoming too watery. Dice the deseeded tomato into small, uniform pieces (about 0.5cm).

In a large bowl, combine the mashed avocado, diced tomato, and minced onion. Add the lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Gently mix all the ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the avocado mushy. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice according to your preference. Your delicious homemade guacamole is ready!
