Easy Cinnamon Rolls Using Hotteok Mix
Super Simple Dessert with Hotteok Mix & Air Fryer – Making Hotteok Cinnamon Rolls (Air Fryer Recipe, Cinnamon Roll, No-Bake Home Baking)
Baking bread from scratch can be a hassle, but with this recipe, you can easily make delicious desserts at home! You don’t need any special ingredients; simply use a store-bought Hotteok mix to create moist and sweet cinnamon rolls. They’re perfect as a snack for kids or a delightful dessert for tea time. I personally love the enticing aroma of cinnamon that fills the air as they bake.
Ingredients- 1 packet Hotteok mix
- 200ml milk
- 3 slices butter (2 for dough, 1 for brushing)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, combine the Hotteok mix and the instant yeast packet. Pour in 200ml of warm milk and mix to form a dough. Start by stirring with a spatula or your hands until the ingredients are just combined. It might seem a bit sticky at first, but it will come together as you mix.
Step 2
Once the dough forms a ball, add 2 slices of butter that have softened at room temperature. Knead the dough until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough becomes smooth and elastic. The warm milk helps the butter melt and blend in beautifully. Continue kneading for about 5-10 minutes until the dough is no longer sticky.
Step 3
Lightly dust your work surface or a large cutting board with flour. Place the dough on the floured surface and roll it out thinly into a rectangle using a rolling pin. Aim for a thickness of about 3mm.
Step 4
Melt the remaining 1 slice of butter in the microwave or over low heat. Brush the melted butter evenly over the entire surface of the rolled-out dough. This step is crucial for the cinnamon sugar mixture to adhere well and add extra flavor.
Step 5
Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mix (or a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon to your liking) over the buttered dough. Make sure to cover it all the way to the edges for maximum flavor in every bite.
Step 6
Starting from one long edge, tightly roll up the dough, similar to how you would roll a sushi mat (kimbap). Gently press down as you roll to ensure a compact log and prevent the filling from spilling out.
Step 7
Pinch the seam at the end of the rolled dough to seal it securely. This prevents the roll from unraveling and keeps the sugar filling from leaking out during baking. Ensure it’s well-sealed for a neat finish.
Step 8
Cut the rolled dough into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm thick. Use a sharp knife and try to cut cleanly without squishing the rolls too much. You should get about 8-10 cinnamon rolls.
Step 9
Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. Arrange the cut cinnamon rolls in a single layer, leaving some space between each one so they can expand and cook evenly. Do not overcrowd the basket. Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes. Once baked, you’ll have delicious cinnamon rolls that are slightly crisp on the outside and wonderfully soft on the inside. Keep an eye on them during baking; if they start to brown too quickly, reduce the temperature slightly or shorten the time.
