Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Pork
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 1 Frozen Pork Cutlet (choose your favorite brand)
  • 60g Mozzarella Cheese (adjust to your liking)
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 slices Sandwich Ham

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the frozen pork cutlet. Fry one side for about 30 seconds, then flip and fry the other side for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds until golden brown. (Refer to your specific frozen pork cutlet package instructions, generally frying for 4-5 minutes is recommended.)

Step 1

Step 2

While the other side of the pork cutlet is cooking, gently push the cutlet to one side of the pan. Place the sandwich ham slices in the freed space. The ham will sizzle and add a lovely flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

After about 30 seconds, flip the ham slices. Next, crack the egg into the space where the ham was and lightly beat it. Let the egg cook around the pork cutlet and ham.

Step 3

Step 4

Flip the ham slices one more time and cook for another 30 seconds, then remove them temporarily to a plate. Once the egg white is mostly set (after about another 30 seconds), carefully lift the pork cutlet and place it, the side that was less cooked, onto the cooked egg. This technique helps ensure a crispier exterior and a moist interior.

Step 4

Step 5

Flip the pork cutlet again so the egg-coated side is now at the bottom. Once the egg white is almost fully cooked and adhering well to the cutlet, carefully remove the pork cutlet from the pan. Gently pat the surface with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Place the pork cutlet on your serving plate, arrange the reserved ham slices on top, and then generously sprinkle the mozzarella cheese in the center.

Step 5

Step 6

Place the assembled cheesy pork cutlet in the microwave and heat for about 1 minute, or until the cheese is melted and gooey. Enjoy your homemade cheesy donkatsu!
