Ingredients

  • 8 fresh button mushrooms
  • 4 Tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1/2 slice of cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of dried basil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Begin by gathering your ingredients: fresh button mushrooms, your favorite tomato sauce, and a slice of cheese. Having everything ready makes the cooking process much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Gently prepare the mushrooms. Carefully remove the stems using a spoon or a small paring knife. You want to create a hollowed-out space in the mushroom cap to hold the sauce and cheese, so be careful not to pierce the bottom or sides.

Step 2

Step 3

Spoon the tomato sauce into the hollowed-out mushroom caps. Fill them generously, but avoid overfilling to prevent spillage during cooking. The sauce will meld beautifully with the mushroom’s flavor as it bakes.

Step 3

Step 4

Prepare your Cuckoo Twin Pressure rice cooker. Place the steaming rack inside the inner pot and add 1/2 cup (approximately 100ml) of water. Ensure the water level is below the steaming rack.

Step 4

Step 5

Arrange the sauce-filled mushrooms on the steaming rack. Leave a little space between each mushroom to ensure they cook evenly.

Step 5

Step 6

Close the lid of the rice cooker. Press the ‘Menu’ button, followed by the ‘Time’ selection buttons to set your desired cooking time.

Step 6

Step 7

Select the ‘No Pressure Cook’ (or similar setting) mode and set the timer for 10 minutes. This gentle cooking method will perfectly soften the mushrooms.

Step 7

Step 8

While the mushrooms are steaming, prepare the cheese. Cut the slice of cheese into pieces that are roughly the same size as the opening of your mushroom caps. This ensures the cheese will melt nicely over the top.

Step 8

Step 9

Once the 10-minute steaming cycle is complete and the cooker enters the resting phase, use the ‘Open Cooking’ button (refer to your Cuckoo manual for specific operation) to safely open the lid.

Step 9

Step 10

Carefully open the lid and place a piece of the prepared cheese on top of each hot, steamed mushroom. Watch as the cheese begins to melt and envelop the mushroom.

Step 10

Step 11

Close the lid again and let the mushrooms sit for another 1-2 minutes. This short resting period allows the cheese to melt completely and create a wonderful topping.

Step 11

Step 12

Your delicious mushroom and cheese bake is ready! Sprinkle a pinch of dried basil over the top for a fragrant finish. Serve immediately and enjoy this delightful finger food!
