Ingredients

  • 10 slices of sliced ham
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 sheet of dried seaweed (kim)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 packet of rice ball topping (or soy sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 bowl of cooked rice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Lightly cook the sliced ham in a pan to prevent it from shrinking too much. If you enjoy the ham raw, you can skip this step. After cooking, you can gently pat the ham with a paper towel to remove excess oil for a cleaner finish.

Step 1

Step 2

In a bowl, crack 2-3 eggs. Add 1 tsp of salt and whisk well until combined. If you separate the yolks and whites, you’ll have less volume, so mixing them together makes it easier to roll. Adjust the number of eggs based on the amount of rice and size of the ham.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat 3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over low heat. Pour in the beaten egg mixture thinly to make a crepe-like omelet. If you separated the yolk and white, cook each thinly and then julienne them into strips thinner than the ham. Thin strips will look prettier and be easier to eat when rolled.

Step 3

Step 4

Julienne the dried seaweed (kim) into strips slightly thinner than the egg omelet strips. The seaweed will help hold the rice together.

Step 4

Step 5

In a bowl with 1 bowl of warm cooked rice, add 1 packet of rice ball topping, 1 Tbsp sesame seeds, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Add a pinch of salt, adjusting to the seasoning of the topping. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. If you don’t have rice ball topping, you can substitute it with about 1/2 Tbsp of soy sauce for a delicious flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, let’s roll! Lay a slice of ham flat. Take a handful of the seasoned rice and spread it evenly over the ham. Gently press the rice down with your hands to shape it. Place the julienned egg omelet and seaweed strips on top of the rice, then carefully roll everything up tightly. For an extra layer of flavor and texture, you can add some finely chopped pickled radish or your favorite filling in the center of the rice before rolling. Roll them into bite-sized pieces for a perfect presentation!
