The basic ratio for these ingredients is 1:1, with each component weighing 100g for a 4-serving batch. If you’re planning to make a larger quantity to last for two weeks, you can scale up to about 500g of each ingredient. Begin by thoroughly washing all the produce under running water. Chopping the vegetables into smaller pieces will make blending much easier later on. Tip: For best results, core the cabbage and break the broccoli into small florets.

Place all the chopped vegetables into a large pot. Add enough clean water to completely submerge the vegetables. Ensure the water level is sufficient to cover everything.

Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and continue to simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Cooking them longer will help release more of their beneficial compounds into the water.

After cooking, let the vegetables and their cooking liquid cool down together completely. Crucial Tip: Do not discard the cooking water! It is rich in water-soluble vitamins and minerals, which are essential components of your detox juice.

Prepare your fruits for added sweetness and a smoother texture. We’ll use equal parts apple and banana. For maximum nutritional benefit, wash the apple thoroughly and include the peel when blending, as it’s packed with fiber and nutrients. This step enhances both flavor and health value.

Transfer the cooled vegetables and their cooking water into your blender. Blend until smooth. It’s often best to blend the vegetable mixture first on its own.

Now, add the prepared apple and banana to the blender and continue blending until everything is thoroughly combined and smooth. If you have a smaller blender, you might need to blend in batches or use an immersion blender. (I had to blend mine in a few batches with my smaller blender too! It’s definitely on my shopping list to get a larger one soon.) Tip: While apple and banana are a classic combination, feel free to experiment with other fruits like strawberries, kiwi, or blueberries based on your preference. Just remember to slightly reduce the amount of apple and banana if you add other fruits, to maintain the balance.
