Galbi and Mushroom Stir-Fry Recipe: Perfect for Kids’ Meals!
When you’re grilling pre-made galbi (Korean short ribs), try adding king oyster mushrooms to the empty spaces on the pan! The delicious sauce that naturally comes out from the galbi is more than enough to flavor the mushrooms beautifully. Picking up a piece of galbi and a bite of mushroom together makes it even more delightful. This simple yet flavorful dish is a guaranteed hit!
Main Ingredients- 2 patties of pre-made Galbi
- 2 King Oyster Mushrooms
- A little cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, trim the tough ends off the king oyster mushrooms. Then, cut each mushroom into about three thick, large slices. If you don’t have king oyster mushrooms, feel free to use other varieties like shiitake or oyster mushrooms according to your preference. I personally find king oyster and shiitake mushrooms to be the most delicious combination.
Step 2
Next, heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan. Ensure there’s enough oil to help the galbi and mushrooms brown nicely without sticking.
Step 3
Once the pan is hot, place the 2 patties of pre-made galbi onto it. Cook over medium-low heat. To ensure even cooking and prevent burning, cover the pan with a lid intermittently. This helps distribute the heat evenly, resulting in perfectly cooked galbi.
Step 4
Once the galbi is nicely browned, cut it into bite-sized pieces. If there’s excessive oil or burnt bits in the pan, gently wipe them away with a paper towel to keep the pan clean for the mushrooms.
Step 5
Push the cooked galbi to one side of the pan and place the sliced mushrooms into the empty space. Let them cook, absorbing the delicious juices and seasonings from the galbi.
Step 6
The mushrooms will cook beautifully using just the rendered fat and seasoning from the galbi. Once the mushrooms start releasing their moisture, gently toss them with the galbi, and then turn off the heat immediately. Mushrooms cook quickly and will continue to soften with residual heat.
