Delicious Stir-Fried Fish Cakes and Crab Sticks: A True Rice Thief!

I made a delightful stir-fry using fish cakes and crab sticks, which my husband absolutely loves! It’s so simple to whip up in a flash. A quick stir-fry with a savory soy-based sauce, and my husband raved about how delicious it was! The lovely color of the fish cakes combined with the vibrant red of the crab sticks makes it look even more appetizing. If you have any leftover vegetables, feel free to add them for extra texture and flavor; I only used these two main ingredients today, and it turned out great. Let me show you how to easily make this simple yet delicious side dish, ‘Eomuk Mat-sal Bokkeum’!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Side dish
  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 3 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 4 sheets of fish cake (Eomuk)
  • 3 sticks of crab stick (Mat-sal)
  • Leftover vegetables (optional, e.g., onion, carrot, green onion)
  • 2.5 Tbsp seasoned soy sauce (Mat-ganjang)
  • 2 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup/honey)
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • A little olive oil or cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the fish cakes and crab sticks by cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Cut the fish cakes into about 3-4 cm squares or strips. For the crab sticks, you can cut them to a similar length as the fish cakes or cut them in half lengthwise. If you’re using any leftover vegetables, slice the onion thinly, julienne or thinly slice the carrots, and cut the green onions diagonally. Cutting all ingredients to similar sizes ensures they cook evenly and are easy to eat.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, heat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of olive oil or cooking oil. Add the prepared fish cakes, crab sticks, and any vegetables you’re using to the pan. Begin to stir-fry everything together. Gently toss the ingredients so they don’t stick together. If you’re adding vegetables, stir-fry them for about 1-2 minutes until they soften slightly.

Step 2

Step 3

While stir-frying, it’s time to add the delicious seasoning! Add 2.5 tablespoons of seasoned soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of oligosaccharide for sweetness, and finally, a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Use a spatula or chopsticks to quickly mix everything together, ensuring the sauce evenly coats all the ingredients. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes, being mindful of the heat to prevent the sauce from burning. The dish is ready when it has a glossy sheen and the sauce has nicely coated the ingredients. Turn off the heat.
