Air Fryer Potato Recipe, Easy Homemade Steamed Potatoes, Perfect as a Snack or Appetizer
It’s a rainy day today, perfect for some comforting home-cooked goodness! Instead of the usual steaming, let’s try making wonderfully moist and delicious steamed potatoes using an air fryer. This simple yet satisfying potato dish is perfect for a snack, a side dish, or even alongside your favorite drinks.
Ingredients- 4 potatoes (medium-sized)
- 2 cups water (400ml)
- 1 tablespoon salt
- A pinch of sugar (or new sugar)
- A small knob of butter
- A dash of pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the potatoes. Scrub them well with a brush to remove any dirt from the skin. Cut the butter into small pieces, as it will be placed on top of the potatoes to melt.
Step 2
While whole potatoes are delicious, adding a little seasoning enhances their flavor. Cut the potatoes in half or score them lightly with a knife. This helps the seasoning penetrate better. You can cook them with the skin on or peel them, depending on your preference.
Step 3
Now, let’s prepare a flavorful brine for the potatoes. In a bowl, combine 2 cups (400ml) of water, 1 tablespoon of salt, and a pinch of sugar (or new sugar). Stir well until the salt and sugar are dissolved. Adding a little sugar will enhance the natural sweetness of the potatoes and add depth to the flavor.
Step 4
Soak the prepared potatoes in the saltwater mixture for about 2 to 3 minutes. This brief soak allows the potatoes to absorb a subtle seasoning, making them much tastier. Once the time is up, do not rinse the potatoes; simply take them out and proceed to the next step.
Step 5
Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. This prevents the potatoes from sticking and makes cleanup a breeze. Arrange the potatoes on the parchment paper, sprinkle them generously with pepper, and then place the pre-cut butter pieces on top. Now, place the basket in the air fryer and cook at 190°C (375°F) for 20 minutes. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size of the potatoes and your air fryer model, so it’s a good idea to check on them periodically.
Step 6
Once the cooking time is complete, check if the potatoes are cooked through by piercing them with a fork or skewer. If it slides in easily, they are perfectly cooked. If they still feel firm, continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
Step 7
Voila! Your deliciously moist steamed potatoes, made effortlessly in the air fryer, are ready. Hot, freshly cooked potatoes are truly a delight. It’s amazing how such simple ingredients can result in such a wonderful dish! Enjoy this delightful treat on any occasion.
