Main Ingredients- 1 cup Jjajang powder mix
- 10 cooked cocktail shrimp
- 1 squid (body only), cleaned and cut into bite-sized pieces
- 100g ground pork
- 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 stalk green onion, finely chopped
- 2 cabbage leaves, finely chopped
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your vegetables. Finely chop the onion and cabbage, and thinly slice the green onion. Clean the squid and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Thaw the cocktail shrimp if frozen.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Once the garlic aroma is strong, add the ground pork and cook until it’s no longer pink.
Step 3
When the pork is halfway cooked, add the chopped onion, green onion, and cabbage. Stir-fry until the vegetables become translucent. The vegetables will release some moisture, which helps create a moist stir-fry.
Step 4
Add the prepared cocktail shrimp and squid to the pan. Stir-fry quickly over high heat. Avoid overcooking the seafood, as it can become tough.
Step 5
Pour 1 cup (200ml) of water into the pan with the stir-fried ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Skim off any impurities that rise to the surface and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 6
In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of jjajang powder mix with the remaining 1 cup (200ml) of water. Whisk thoroughly until smooth and lump-free. It’s important to dissolve it completely.
Step 7
Pour the dissolved jjajang sauce into the simmering ingredients in the pan. Immediately reduce the heat to low and stir continuously with a spatula to prevent sticking. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
Step 8
Once the jjajang sauce has reached the right thickness, stir in 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of oyster sauce to season. This adds sweetness and umami, enhancing the overall flavor. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Step 9
Serve the warm rice in a bowl. Generously spoon the delicious seafood jjajang sauce over the rice.
Step 10
Finally, garnish with chopped chives and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Your flavorful seafood jjajang rice is ready to enjoy! This visually appealing and delicious dish makes for a satisfying meal.
