Main Ingredients- 3 frozen dumplings
- 1/4 onion
- A little bit of carrot (about 20g)
- A little bit of chives (about 10g)
- 2/3 bowl of warm rice (about 130g)
- 5 eggs
- 2 sheets of seaweed (gim)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the onion and shred the carrot. Mince the chives. Lightly oil a pan, heat it over low heat, and sauté the chopped onion until translucent to release its aroma.
Step 2
Once the onion starts to smell fragrant, add the shredded carrot and stir-fry together. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the carrot is slightly tender. Keep the heat on medium-low.
Step 3
When the carrot is somewhat cooked, add the frozen dumplings directly and fry until golden brown. When the dumplings start to turn a little brown, add the minced chives and stir-fry quickly together. Chives can become mushy if overcooked, so add them at the end and sauté briefly.
Step 4
Now, add the warm rice and stir-fry to combine with all the ingredients. Gently break up the rice with a spatula so it doesn’t clump together. Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the rice grains are fluffy and all the flavors are well combined. This will complete your delicious pan-fried dumpling rice.
Step 5
Your pan-fried dumpling rice is complete! It’s delicious as is, but if you want to make it more special, proceed to the next step of coating it in egg.
Step 6
Crack the 5 eggs into a wide bowl and whisk them well. Gently coat the completed pan-fried dumpling rice in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s evenly covered. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat, then carefully place the egg-coated dumpling rice and fry until golden brown on both sides. You can also make it like an egg roll.
Step 7
Place a suitable amount of the egg-coated pan-fried dumpling rice onto a sheet of seaweed (gim) and roll it up tightly to form a kimbap shape. Using a kimbap mat will help you make it firmer and more visually appealing. Slice the finished kimbap into bite-sized pieces and enjoy! It’s also a great nutritious snack for kids!
