Indulge in the comforting embrace of tender egg embracing a flavorful fried rice! This omurice recipe brings restaurant-quality deliciousness right to your kitchen. Simple ingredients create a satisfying and abundant meal.
Main Ingredients- 1 bowl of cooked rice (warm)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 stalk of green onion
- 1/4 medium onion
- 1/4 small carrot
- 1/4 piece of ham (or sausage), about 30g
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to your omurice. Finely mince the green onion. The subtle onion aroma will enhance the taste of the fried rice.
Step 2
Just like the green onion, finely dice the onion. Diced onion cooks easily while stir-frying and contributes to a smoother texture in the fried rice.
Step 3
Finely dice the carrot as well, either by cubing or julienning. Carrots add color and a slight crispness. Ensure they are finely chopped to cook through properly.
Step 4
Cut the ham (or sausage) into bite-sized cubes, about 0.5cm. You can substitute with bacon or chicken breast for a different flavor.
Step 5
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan. Using enough oil will prevent the fried rice from sticking to the pan.
Step 6
Once the pan is hot, add the minced green onion and stir-fry over medium-low heat to create fragrant green onion oil. This oil infuses the fried rice with a wonderful aroma and depth of flavor.
Step 7
When the green onion becomes fragrant, add the diced onion, carrot, and ham. Stir-fry over high heat until the vegetables turn translucent and the ham is lightly cooked.
Step 8
Add the warm bowl of rice to the pan and break up any clumps with your spatula. Stir-fry, mixing well with the other ingredients, ensuring the rice is fluffy and not sticky.
Step 9
Once the rice is well-fried, add 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce to enhance the flavor. Oyster sauce provides a savory depth that elevates the fried rice.
Step 10
Next, add 1 tablespoon of ketchup and a pinch of black pepper. Stir-fry together. Ketchup adds a sweet and tangy note, while pepper cuts through any richness, balancing the flavors.
Step 11
Stir-fry rapidly over high heat for about 1-2 minutes, ensuring all the seasoning coats the rice grains evenly. This creates a perfectly fluffy fried rice.
Step 12
In a separate pan, lightly beat the 2 eggs, removing the chalazae. Lightly oil the pan, reduce heat to low, and cook to create a thin, even omelet. This will be draped over the fried rice, so avoid overcooking.
Step 13
Carefully place the cooked egg omelet over the fried rice. For an extra touch, drizzle ketchup in a zigzag pattern on top. Your delicious homemade omurice is ready to be enjoyed!
