  • 1 onion
  • 1/4 zucchini
  • 1 handful of meat (pork or chicken, your choice)
  • 1 king oyster mushroom
  • 2 cups water
  • Cooked rice
  • Cooking oil, as needed

First, dice all your vegetables (onion, zucchini, king oyster mushroom) and meat into bite-sized cubes, about 1-1.5 cm. This size prevents them from becoming mushy when cooked. Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the diced meat and stir-fry until it’s partially cooked. Then, add the chopped onion and continue to sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent. Once the onion is semi-transparent, add the remaining vegetables (zucchini and king oyster mushroom) and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes. Pour in 2 cups (approximately 400ml) of water.

Once the water comes to a boil, add the 1 packet of Jjajang powder mix. It’s crucial to stir continuously with a whisk or spatula to ensure the powder dissolves smoothly without any lumps. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Your delicious Jjajang sauce is now ready!
