Delicious Ham Fried Rice
Ham Fried Rice: A Simple and Delicious Classic!
When you don’t feel like preparing side dishes, just throw everything in and stir-fry! This incredibly simple yet delicious fried rice is a lifesaver.
Main Ingredients- 2 potatoes
- 200g ham (such as Spam or luncheon meat)
- 1/5 carrot
- 1/2 onion
- A small piece of green onion
- A small piece of zucchini
- 2 instant rice bowls (e.g., Hetbahn)
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- A pinch of salt

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely chop all the vegetables and ham for the fried rice. Dice the potatoes, carrots, and zucchini into small cubes, about 0.5cm. Finely mince the onion and thinly slice the green onion. Cut the ham into bite-sized pieces (about 0.5cm).
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a wide pan or wok over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes and a pinch of salt, then stir-fry until the potatoes are halfway cooked. Adding a little salt while cooking the potatoes helps them season nicely.
Step 3
Once the potatoes are about half cooked and translucent, add the chopped ham, carrots, onion, and zucchini to the pan. Stir-fry everything together, ensuring the ingredients are evenly distributed and don’t clump up.
Step 4
When the vegetables and ham are tender, pour 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce around the edges of the pan to create a nice aroma. Stir everything together to ensure the sauce is well incorporated.
Step 5
Once the sauce is mixed with the ingredients, add the 2 instant rice bowls to the pan. Use a spatula to break up the rice and mix it thoroughly with the vegetables and ham.
Step 6
Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the rice grains are separated and well combined with the other ingredients. Make sure to stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the pan. Cook until each grain of rice looks slightly translucent.
Step 7
When the rice is sufficiently stir-fried, reduce the heat to low. Drizzle in 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and sprinkle with a pinch of sesame seeds. Taste and adjust seasoning with a tiny bit more salt or soy sauce if needed, according to your preference.
Step 8
Serve your delicious ham fried rice in a bowl. Enjoy this simple yet satisfying meal!
