Delicious Ham and Vegetable Rolled Omelet for Kids

Easy Ham and Vegetable Rolled Omelet Recipe: How to Make Rolled Omelet with a Regular Frying Pan for Kids’ Meals and Home Cooking

Today, I’ve made a simple and delightful ham and vegetable rolled omelet, perfect as a side dish for children! 🙂 Finely chopping green onions, bell peppers, and ham and adding them made the kids enjoy it even more. Hahaha! While using a dedicated square omelet pan makes shaping easier, I decided to try making it with a regular round frying pan. 🙂 You can absolutely make a great rolled omelet with a standard round pan! To start, lightly grease the pan with cooking oil and then gently wipe it with a paper towel to create a thin layer of oil. This helps the egg mixture spread evenly, making the omelet easier to roll. Be mindful of the heat; cooking on excessively high heat can easily burn the bottom. So, cooking over medium to medium-low heat will help you create a perfectly cooked, soft rolled omelet! My younger child, who wasn’t a big fan of rolled omelets before, absolutely loved this one and asked for more. It made me so proud as a parent! I felt so touched that I wanted to share this post. ♡

Ingredients
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1/3 Tbsp salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp finely chopped green onion
  • 2 Tbsp finely chopped bell pepper
  • 2 Tbsp finely chopped ham
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, finely chop the bell pepper, green onion, and ham that will be used as fillings for the rolled omelet. 🙂 You don’t need to prepare too much of the filling ingredients; about 2 tablespoons of each chopped ingredient is sufficient to make a delicious omelet. 🙂

Step 2

Crack 5 large eggs into a bowl. Add 1/3 Tbsp of salt and 1/2 Tbsp of sesame oil. 🙂 The salt seasons the egg mixture, and the sesame oil helps reduce any eggy smell while adding a wonderful aroma.

Step 3

Add the finely chopped vegetables and ham to the egg mixture and whisk thoroughly until well combined. 🙂

Step 4

Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil, then use a paper towel to lightly wipe and coat the entire surface of the pan with a thin layer of oil. This prevents the egg mixture from sticking and ensures a smooth cooking process.

Step 5

Pour about 1/4 of the egg mixture into the heated, lightly oiled pan. Gently swirl the pan to spread the egg mixture into a thin, even layer. Then, cook over medium to medium-low heat until it’s mostly set. 🙂

Step 6

When the rolled omelet is about 60% cooked (still a little wet on top), it’s time to start rolling.

Step 7

As shown in the photo, carefully roll one side of the cooked egg towards the center.

Step 8

Gently push the rolled portion to one side of the pan, creating an empty space.

Step 9

Pour another 1/4 of the egg mixture into the empty space in the pan. Carefully lift the rolled portion slightly so the new egg mixture can flow underneath, and then continue rolling it up with the new layer. Repeat this process. :

Step 10

As you continue this rolling and adding process, the omelet will gradually become thicker and more substantial.

Step 11

I repeated the process of pouring the egg mixture in batches (about 4 times total) and rolling. Once the omelet has taken shape, gently press the sides with a spatula to ensure it’s evenly cooked throughout and to achieve a nice, rounded form. 🙂 This helps it cook evenly inside and look beautifully finished.

Step 12

After cooking, transfer the rolled omelet to a cutting board and let it cool slightly for a few minutes before slicing. This prevents it from falling apart. Slice it into your desired bite-sized pieces, and your delicious ham and vegetable rolled omelet is ready! 🙂
