One-Bowl Wonder: Smoked Duck Fried Rice Recipe
What do you do with leftover smoked duck? Don’t let it go to waste! Turn it into a flavorful fried rice dish. This recipe is perfect for using up small portions and creating a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- Smoked duck, appropriate amount (leftover portion)
- Cooked rice, 1/2 bowl
- Carrot (for stir-frying), 1 Tbsp, finely diced or julienned
- Onion (for stir-frying), 1 Tbsp, finely diced or julienned
- Chives (for stir-frying), 1 Tbsp, cut into 1-2 cm lengths
- Oyster sauce, 1/2 Tbsp
- Sesame oil, 1 Tbsp
- Sesame seeds, a pinch
- Salt, to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the diced carrot and stir-fry until it starts to soften. Then, add the diced onion and continue to sauté until translucent and fragrant.
Step 2
Slice the leftover smoked duck into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick. Prepare the chives by cutting them into 1-2 cm lengths for stir-frying.
Step 3
Add the prepared smoked duck and chives to the pan with the sautéed vegetables. Stir-fry everything together, allowing the duck’s rendered fat to coat the vegetables and enhance the flavor.
Step 4
Once the ingredients are well combined and slightly cooked, turn off the heat temporarily. Add the 1/2 bowl of cooked rice and break up any clumps, mixing it thoroughly with the other ingredients.
Step 5
Add 1/2 Tbsp of oyster sauce to the mixture. The oyster sauce will add a wonderful savory depth to your fried rice.
Step 6
Add 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and a pinch of sesame seeds. While the heat is off, gently mix and toss everything together until the ingredients and seasonings are well combined. Once mixed, turn the heat back on and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes. Taste and add a tiny pinch of salt if needed to adjust the seasoning.
Step 7
Transfer the delicious smoked duck fried rice to a serving bowl. This hearty dish is a perfectly satisfying meal on its own!
