A perfect dish for those days when you have nothing much to eat or your appetite is low. This flavorful fried rice is quick, satisfying, and packed with tasty ingredients.

Main Ingredients

  • 100g Ham (diced)
  • 1/2 Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 handful Enoki mushrooms (or other mushrooms, torn or chopped)
  • Imitation crab sticks (krab-surimi), to taste (finely chopped)
  • 2 bowls Cooked rice

Seasoning & Flavor

  • 2 pinches Salt
  • A little Sesame oil
  • 3/4 Tbsp Oyster sauce

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all your ingredients first for a smooth cooking process. Dice the ham into approximately 1cm cubes. Finely chop the onion and imitation crab sticks. If using enoki mushrooms, tear them into bite-sized pieces or chop them. Having everything prepped makes stir-frying much easier.

Heat about 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan or wok over medium-low heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and fragrant. Cooking the onion thoroughly brings out its natural sweetness and deepens the flavor.

Once the onions are halfway cooked and releasing their aroma, add the prepared mushrooms. Stir-fry them until they begin to soften. Then, add the diced ham and continue to stir-fry. Season with 2 pinches of salt to lightly enhance the flavors of the ingredients.

When the ham and mushrooms are nicely cooked, add the chopped imitation crab sticks to the pan. Stir gently to combine and cook for just a minute or so. Imitation crab sticks cook very quickly, so avoid overcooking them.

It’s time for the rice! When the onions are almost fully cooked, add 2 bowls of warm cooked rice to the pan. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice and stir-fry for about 1 minute until the rice is separated and heated through. During this time, add 3/4 tablespoon of oyster sauce and a little sesame oil. Stir-fry for another minute, ensuring everything is well mixed. The oyster sauce adds a savory umami boost, while the sesame oil provides a wonderful nutty aroma.
