My mother loves fish cakes, so when I’m out of side dishes, I often think of stir-fried fish cakes. But today, instead of plain stir-fried fish cakes, I made fish cake fried rice! Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of cooked rice
  • 3 sheets of fish cake
  • 1/2 stalk of green onion
  • 1/2 yellow bell pepper
  • 1/2 red bell pepper
  • 3 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

First, finely chop the green onion into approximately 0.3cm thick slices. Prepare them for stir-frying.

Cut the yellow bell pepper into small cubes, about 0.3×0.3cm. Removing the seeds beforehand will make them easier to dice.

Similarly, remove the seeds from the red bell pepper and dice it into small cubes, about 0.3×0.3cm. These colorful peppers will add visual appeal to your fried rice.

Cut the fish cakes into small square pieces, approximately 0.5×0.5cm. Stir-frying them will release their subtle sweetness, enhancing the overall flavor of the fried rice.

Heat a pan over medium heat and add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry until fragrant. This step creates a flavorful green onion oil base.

Once the green onions release a gentle aroma, add the diced yellow and red bell peppers, and the cut fish cakes to the pan. Stir-fry everything together until the vegetables are slightly softened.

When the bell peppers and fish cakes are cooked to your liking, add 1 bowl of cooked rice and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Stir everything together, breaking up any clumps of rice with your spatula, until well combined.

Once all the ingredients are evenly mixed and the rice is heated through, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a rich aroma. You can stir it in while the heat is still on or after turning it off.
