Main Ingredients

  • Store-bought Inari sushi kit for 2 servings (includes fried tofu pouches, sushi vinegar seasoning, and dried vegetable mix)
  • Crab sticks or imitation crab meat, 5 sticks
  • Cucumber, 1/2 medium
  • Freshly cooked rice, 2 bowls

Salad Dressing

  • Mayonnaise, 3 tablespoons
  • Mustard sauce, 2 tablespoons

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Tip: Feel free to adjust the amount of cucumber and crab sticks to your preference. Leftover ingredients can be stored in the refrigerator and used in salads or other dishes.

Step 1

Step 2

It’s important to wash the cucumber thoroughly. Use coarse salt or sea salt to scrub the skin, paying attention to any bumpy areas. Rinse well under running water to remove any residue.

Step 2

Step 3

Finely julienne the washed cucumber into bite-sized strips. While these might look a bit thick in the photo, thinner strips will blend better with the sushi rice and tofu pouch.

Step 3

Step 4

Gently shred the crab sticks lengthwise. Place the shredded crab sticks and the julienned cucumber into a bowl.

Step 4

Step 5

Add 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons of mustard sauce to the bowl with the crab and cucumber. Mix well to create a delicious salad dressing.

Step 5

Step 6

Tip: Adjust the ratio of mayonnaise and mustard sauce to your taste. Add more mayonnaise for a creamier texture, or more mustard for a tangier flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Now, let’s prepare the rice. In a bowl with 2 cups of warm, freshly cooked rice, add the sushi vinegar seasoning and dried vegetable mix from the Inari sushi kit. Gently mix with a spatula or spoon, being careful not to mash the rice grains.

Step 7

Step 8

When squeezing the water out of the fried tofu pouches, avoid pressing too hard, as they might break. Gently press to remove excess water, leaving them slightly moist for the best flavor.

Step 8

Step 9

Carefully fill each seasoned tofu pouch with the prepared sushi rice. After filling, gently press down the center of the rice to create a slight indentation. This helps the salad topping stay in place and prevents it from falling out easily.

Step 9

Step 10

Place the prepared crab and cucumber salad generously on top of the rice-filled tofu pouches. Even if the cucumber was cut a bit thick, the taste will be fantastic!

Step 10

Step 11

Your delicious Crab Stick Inari Sushi is ready! It’s wonderful served with the salad on top, or you can mix the salad and rice together. Making it is so easy, isn’t it? Leftover rice can be shaped into small rice balls, which kids absolutely love, so feel free to get creative!
