Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices Seoul Milk Gouda Cheese
  • 1 bowl warm cooked rice (approx. 200g)
  • 1 fresh cucumber
  • 200g imitation crab sticks
  • 1 sheet roasted seaweed (gimm)

Seasoning & Others
  • 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp Mustard Sauce
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • 3 pinches Salt
  • Little Sesame Oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare and measure all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Wash the cucumber thoroughly, pat it dry, and shred the imitation crab sticks into bite-sized pieces.

Step 2

Thinly julienne the cucumber and place it in a bowl. Sprinkle with 3 pinches of salt and let it sit for about 3 minutes to draw out excess moisture. Then, firmly squeeze out all the water to prevent the rolls from becoming soggy.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, combine the shredded crab sticks with 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of mustard sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Gently mix everything together until well combined, being careful not to mash the crab sticks.

Step 4

Lay a sheet of plastic wrap over a bamboo sushi mat. Spread the warm cooked rice thinly and evenly over the plastic wrap, mixing in a little sesame oil and salt. Ensure the rice layer isn’t too thick, as this can cause the roll to break when shaping.

Step 5

Place 2 slices of Gouda cheese on top of the rice. Evenly distribute the prepared crab stick mixture and the squeezed cucumber juliennes over the cheese. Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll everything up tightly, pressing gently as you go to create a compact roll. Start by loosely rolling to secure the filling, then tighten the roll.

Step 6

If you wish to make a version using seaweed, spread the rice mixture on a sheet of gim (roasted seaweed) and follow the same steps to add cheese and fillings before rolling.

Step 7

Once rolled, slice the cheese rolls into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm thick) and arrange them neatly on a serving plate. For cleaner cuts, you can lightly moisten your knife with water. Your delicious crab stick cheese rolls are now ready!
