Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the star of our dish: the fresh beef chuck eye roll. Cut it into approximately 1.5cm cubes or bite-sized rectangular pieces. It’s important not to cut the meat too small, as this can cause it to lose its juices during cooking.
Step 2
To enhance the texture of the vegetables, it’s best to blanch them lightly before stir-frying. In boiling water, add the roughly chopped carrots and the cubed potatoes, and blanch for about 2-3 minutes. Then, heat about 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a wok or pan over medium heat and stir-fry for 1 minute. Next, add the sliced garlic, chopped onion, and yellow and red bell peppers in order. Season with 2 tablespoons of salt and 1 tablespoon of pepper, and continue to stir-fry for another minute to bring out the vegetables’ flavors.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to cook the beef. Add the remaining 3 tablespoons of olive oil to the wok and heat it over high heat until it’s smoking hot. Carefully add the cubed beef and sear it for about 1 minute per side, until nicely browned. Cooking quickly over high heat is key to achieving a crispy exterior while keeping the inside wonderfully juicy.
Step 4
Add all the stir-fried vegetables back into the wok with the beef. Keep the heat on high and stir-fry together for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, allowing the beef and vegetables to meld together. You’ll notice a delicious aroma filling your kitchen!
Step 5
Reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour in 7 tablespoons of steak sauce and 7 tablespoons of tonkatsu sauce. (Tip: For an even richer flavor, you can add an extra 2 tablespoons of each sauce to adjust the seasoning to your preference.) Let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients beautifully. This will give the dish a lovely glossy finish.
Step 6
Once everything is well combined and the sauce has thickened, turn off the heat. Carefully transfer the Beef Cubes Steak to a serving plate. Sprinkle generously with finely chopped fresh parsley for a beautiful garnish. Serve immediately while hot for the best taste!
