Cream Pasta Add-ins- 6 strips Bacon, cut into bite-sized pieces
- A few cloves Garlic, thinly sliced
- 3 Mushrooms (e.g., button or cremini), thinly sliced
- 1 Onion, thinly sliced
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your 3 pane breads. If you’ve purchased them online, they often come frozen. Make sure to defrost them thoroughly at room temperature or in the refrigerator before use, as frozen bread can be difficult to hollow out.
Step 2
Once defrosted, carefully use a knife to cut off the top of each pane bread. Then, gently scoop or tear out the soft inner bread, creating a hollow space. Be careful not to tear through the sides or bottom, as this cavity will hold your delicious pasta.
Step 3
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt. Then, add the spaghetti for 3 servings. Gently separate the strands as they cook. Boil for approximately 9 minutes, which is about 1 minute less than the package instructions. We’ll continue cooking the pasta with the sauce later.
Step 4
For the sauce, we’ll use the convenience of 2 packets of store-bought spaghetti sauce. This is typically enough for 4 servings, ensuring a generous amount of flavorful sauce.
Step 5
Prepare the ingredients that will add wonderful flavor and texture to your cream pasta. Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the garlic. Slice the mushrooms, and thinly slice the onion.
Step 6
Don’t discard the pasta water after boiling! Reserve about 5 ladlefuls of the starchy pasta water. This liquid is a secret ingredient for achieving the perfect sauce consistency.
Step 7
Drain the spaghetti in a colander after 9 minutes. Let it sit for a moment to allow excess water to drain off. Avoid letting it sit for too long, as the pasta can stick together.
Step 8
Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add all the prepared ingredients: bacon, sliced garlic, mushrooms, and onion. Sauté until they release their aromatic scents and the vegetables soften.
Step 9
Once the vegetables are tender and the bacon has rendered some of its fat, add the drained spaghetti to the skillet. Toss everything together for 1-2 minutes, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the oil and sautéed ingredients.
Step 10
Pour both packets of the store-bought spaghetti sauce into the skillet. Stir well to combine the sauce with the pasta and vegetables, ensuring every strand is coated.
Step 11
At this stage, add only about 3 ladlefuls of the reserved pasta water, not all of it. This will help emulsify the sauce, making it smoother and creamier. Stir as you add it, adjusting the amount to reach your desired consistency.
Step 12
Continue to cook the pasta and sauce together for another 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Finally, season with a pinch of black pepper and sprinkle in the parsley flakes. Your delicious cream pasta is now ready!
Step 13
To serve, carefully spoon the finished cream pasta into the hollowed-out pane breads. The combination of the crusty bread and rich pasta is truly delightful. For a beautiful presentation, sprinkle a little extra parsley flakes on top. Your impressive Pane Pasta is complete and ready to be enjoyed!
