Decadent Nutella Jam Cookies
Making Delicious Nutella Jam Cookies – It’s So Easy!
Nutella is wonderful to eat on its own, spread on toast, or even warmed up and drizzled. But while it’s delicious in many ways, sometimes you want something a bit more special. If you have an opened jar of Nutella that you want to use up quickly, this recipe is perfect! These Nutella Jam Cookies are surprisingly easy to make and incredibly satisfying. They’re a delightful treat for kids and a perfect accompaniment to your afternoon coffee or tea.
Basic Ingredients
- Cake flour 110g
- Almond flour 50g
- 1 large egg
- Sliced almonds (optional)
- Nutella spread 180g+ (for topping)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, crack one large egg into a bowl. Add 180g of Nutella spread to the bowl. If your Nutella is quite firm due to the temperature, you can microwave it for about 20 seconds to soften it slightly before mixing it with the egg. This will make the mixture much smoother and easier to combine.
Step 2
Once the egg and Nutella are well combined into a smooth mixture, it’s time to add the dry ingredients. Sifting the flours will help ensure a lump-free, delicate cookie dough.
Step 3
Measure out 110g of cake flour and 50g of almond flour. Sift these dry ingredients through a fine-mesh sieve at least 2-3 times. If you don’t have almond flour, you can substitute it with an additional 50g of cake flour, bringing the total to 160g. Sift this mixture as well.
Step 4
Add the sifted dry ingredients to the bowl with the wet mixture. Use a spatula to gently combine everything until no dry flour streaks remain. Once the dough starts to come together, you can switch to using your hands to knead it lightly. Be careful not to over-knead, as this can result in tough cookies.
Step 5
As you knead the dough with your hands, it will start to form a cohesive ball. If the dough feels too sticky, you can chill it in the refrigerator for a short while before proceeding.
Step 6
Divide the dough into portions of approximately 25g each. Roll each portion into a ball, then gently flatten it with your palm to create a disc shape. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the flattened cookie dough discs on it, leaving some space between them as they will spread during baking.
Step 7
Create an indentation in the center of each cookie dough disc. You can use your finger or the back of a small spoon. This well will be perfect for holding extra Nutella later. If you prefer not to add more Nutella, you can place a slice of almond or another nut in the indentation for decoration. Feel free to customize this step based on your preferences!
Step 8
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for approximately 13 minutes. Keep an eye on the cookies towards the end of the baking time to prevent over-browning. If the indentation has puffed up during baking, gently press it down again with your finger after removing the cookies from the oven while they are still warm, creating a deeper well for the topping.
Step 9
Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. If you wish to add more Nutella, fill a piping bag with extra Nutella spread and pipe it into the cooled indentation on each cookie. This adds an extra layer of rich flavor and visual appeal.
Step 10
For a final touch, garnish the cookies with a sprinkle of sliced almonds or chopped nuts. This not only enhances the flavor but also makes the cookies look even more appetizing. Enjoy the delightful combination of sweet Nutella and crisp cookie!
