Tired of the usual red bean and cream fillings? This recipe is for you! We’re making a special chocolate version of the beloved fish-shaped pastry (Bungeoppang) that kids absolutely adore. Surprise your little ones with this delightful homemade treat!
Ingredients
- 200g Chocolate pancake mix
- 50g Dark chocolate chips
- 100ml Milk
- 1 Egg
- Cooking oil (for greasing the mold)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate pancake mix (200g), milk (100ml), and one egg. Get ready to mix everything together.
Step 2
Whisk or stir the ingredients thoroughly until no dry powder is visible. Aim for a smooth, lump-free batter. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
Step 3
Prepare your fish-shaped pastry mold. Using a pastry brush, generously grease both the top and bottom sides of the mold with cooking oil. This step is crucial to prevent sticking and ensure a beautiful golden-brown finish.
Step 4
Pour the batter into the preheated mold, filling it about 70% full. Next, sprinkle about half a tablespoon of dark chocolate chips over the batter. Carefully spoon more batter on top to completely cover the chocolate chips, ensuring they are enclosed within the pastry.
Step 5
Cook the pastry over low heat for about 3 minutes. You’ll know it’s time to flip when a delicious chocolate aroma fills the air. Carefully use a spatula or chopsticks to turn the pastry over, and cook for another 2 minutes. This will result in a delightful pastry that’s crispy on the outside and gooey with melted chocolate on the inside!
