Decadent Brown Sugar Croissant Hack: Reinvent Leftover Pastries!
Easy Homemade Brown Sugar Croissant Recipe
Transform leftover pastry bread into a cafe-worthy brown sugar croissant with this special recipe you can make at home. The crisp croissant paired with sweet brown sugar syrup, creamy whipped cream, and tangy strawberries creates an unforgettable flavor experience.
Main Ingredients- 1 Croissant (chilled or room temperature)
- Whipped Cream, desired amount
- 20ml Brown Sugar Syrup (or 2 Tbsp brown sugar + 1 Tbsp water, mixed and simmered)
- 1 Fresh Strawberry
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the croissant. Using a knife, carefully slice the croissant about three-quarters of the way through, lengthwise. It’s best to leave a small section at the end attached so the croissant doesn’t completely separate, making it easier to fill.
Step 2
Spread half of the brown sugar syrup (10ml) onto the inner side of the cut croissant. This will allow the syrup to soak into the bread, adding a sweet depth of flavor. If you don’t have brown sugar syrup, you can mix brown sugar with a little water and briefly microwave it or simmer it on low heat until slightly thickened.
Step 3
Whip the cream. Pour cold heavy cream into a bowl and whip using a hand mixer or whisk until stiff peaks form. Transfer the whipped cream into a piping bag (or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off) and pipe it decoratively into the croissant. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can simply spoon the cream in.
Step 4
Prepare the fresh strawberry. Wash the strawberry thoroughly, remove the stem, and slice it in half lengthwise. Arrange the sliced strawberries attractively on top of the whipped cream inside the croissant. Finally, drizzle the remaining 10ml of brown sugar syrup lightly over the strawberries for an extra touch of sweetness.
Step 5
Enjoy your freshly made brown sugar croissant immediately. The combination of the crispy croissant, smooth whipped cream, sweet and fragrant brown sugar syrup, and refreshing strawberry will bring pure joy with every bite. It’s an especially delightful dessert because it’s so easy to make using leftover pastry.
