First, prepare half a block of tofu. Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces, about 0.5 cm thick, into uniform shapes like squares or rectangles. Cutting them evenly will help them cook and crisp up uniformly in the microwave.

Place the cut tofu pieces on a layer of paper towels. The paper towels will absorb the moisture from the tofu.

Step 3

Cover the tofu with another layer of paper towels. Gently press down to remove as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial for achieving crispy tofu chips. If the paper towels become saturated, replace them with fresh ones and press again.

Step 4

Arrange the drained tofu pieces in a microwave-safe container, ensuring they don’t overlap. It’s important to have enough space so they can bake evenly.

Step 5

Now, let’s bake the tofu in the microwave. The key is to make them crispy! The cooking time can vary depending on your microwave’s power and the tofu’s moisture content. Generally, start with 5-10 minutes, checking the texture periodically. Instead of microwaving all at once, it’s better to microwave in 3-5 minute intervals, flipping the pieces in between, for even crispiness. (Tip: The difference in crispiness after about 10 minutes is significant! However, be sure to monitor them to prevent burning.)
