Crispy & Sweet Toast Rusks – Homemade Delight
Easy Air Fryer Toast Rusks Recipe
Transform leftover bread into a delightful treat! With an air fryer, you can effortlessly make delicious toast rusks that are wonderfully crispy on the outside and satisfyingly chewy inside. The sweet flavor and crunchy texture are perfect for kids’ snacks or as an elegant dessert to enjoy with coffee or tea.
Ingredients
- 5 slices of bread (slightly stale bread works well!)
- 1 piece of unsalted butter (approx. 20-30g)
- 1 Tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of dried parsley (for garnish, optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the butter. Place 1 piece of butter in the microwave and heat for about 30 seconds until completely melted. If you don’t have a microwave, you can melt it in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.
Step 2
In the melted butter, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and stir well until the sugar dissolves and there are no lumps. Then, add a pinch of dried parsley and mix everything together to create a sweet and aromatic rusk sauce. The parsley adds color and fragrance, so feel free to adjust it to your preference.
Step 3
Now it’s time to cut the bread into bite-sized pieces. Cut each slice of bread into 4 pieces. Cutting them too small can make them crumbly, so about 3-4 cm in size is ideal for a satisfying bite.
Step 4
Generously brush the prepared butter sauce onto both sides of each bread piece. Using a pastry brush makes this step easier. Ensuring the sauce coats evenly will result in a deliciously flavored rusk all around after baking.
Step 5
Arrange the sauced bread slices in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Air fry at 170°C (340°F) for about 8 minutes. It’s a good idea to check on the bread periodically to prevent burning.
Step 6
After about 8 minutes, when the edges are lightly golden, flip the bread slices over. Continue to air fry at 170°C (340°F) for another 5 minutes until both sides are perfectly crispy. You can adjust the cooking time according to your preference for a crispier or softer texture. They are best enjoyed warm right away!
