Ingredients
  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 pinches cinnamon powder
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup/honey)
  • A handful of nuts (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the bread. Don’t trim the crusts; instead, cut the bread into small cubes, about 1.5 cm in size. Try to make the pieces uniform in size so they cook evenly.

Step 2

Place all the diced bread into a dry pan over medium-low heat. No oil is needed for this step.

Step 3

Gently stir the bread with a spatula to prevent burning. Toast for about 2-3 minutes, or until the bread cubes turn a nice golden brown and feel slightly firm. This step creates the crispy cereal-like texture.

Step 4

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown sugar evenly over the toasted bread cubes in the pan. Ensure the bread pieces are well coated.

Step 5

Next, drizzle 2 tablespoons of oligosaccharide (or a similar syrup like corn syrup or honey) over the bread. This syrup will melt and create a delicious, glossy coating.

Step 6

If you enjoy the warm spice of cinnamon, sprinkle about 2 pinches of cinnamon powder over the bread now. It adds a wonderful aroma and flavor.

Step 7

Continue to stir and cook for about 1 more minute, allowing the sugar and syrup to melt and coat the bread cubes beautifully. Once a lovely sweet coating has formed, turn off the heat. Your delicious ‘Toast Cereal’ is now ready!

Step 8

Enjoy these crunchy, sweet bites straight from the pan while they’re still warm. They have a delightful crisp exterior and a slightly soft, sweet interior – kids absolutely love them as a snack.

Step 9

But for the ultimate ‘Toast Cereal’ experience, it’s best enjoyed with cold milk! Pour about 2 cups of milk into a serving bowl.

Step 10

Add the prepared toast cereal to the milk. For an extra touch of flavor and texture, sprinkle a little more cinnamon powder and top with some crunchy nuts before serving. Enjoy your enhanced breakfast!
