Main Ingredients

  • 3-4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 4 Tbsp cooking oil (1 Tbsp for coating sweet potatoes + 3 Tbsp for syrup)
  • 3 Tbsp sugar (for syrup)

First, thoroughly wash 3-4 medium sweet potatoes. Once washed, slice them diagonally into pieces about 1 to 1.5 cm thick. (Be careful not to slice them too thinly, or they might break apart.)

Place the sliced sweet potatoes in a bowl of cold water for about 5 minutes to remove excess starch. Then, rinse them once more under running water. This step helps to achieve a crispier texture.

Gently pat the rinsed sweet potatoes completely dry with paper towels. Any remaining moisture can prevent them from becoming as crispy as you’d like.

Put the dried sweet potato pieces into a clean resealable bag. Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Seal the bag and shake it well to ensure the sweet potatoes are evenly coated with oil. This method is much more convenient and effective than brushing each piece individually.
