  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Bar food
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 8 frozen dumplings
  • 10 cm green onion
  • 3 perilla leaves (optional)

Sauce

  • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp mirin (or cooking wine)
  • 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligodang)
  • 3 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, finely chop the green onion. If you’re using perilla leaves, wash them, pat them dry, and thinly julienne them. While optional, the fragrant perilla leaves add a wonderful aroma and flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp mirin, 1 Tbsp corn syrup, 3 Tbsp ketchup, 1 Tbsp gochujang, and 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Whisk everything together until well combined to create the delicious sauce.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the frozen dumplings until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This crispiness is key! Alternatively, you can use an air fryer set to 180°C (350°F) for about 10-12 minutes.

Step 3

Step 4

In a separate pan, heat a little cooking oil over medium heat. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant, creating infused oil. Then, add the prepared sauce and cook for another minute, stirring constantly, to allow the flavors to meld and thicken slightly.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the crispy fried dumplings to the sauce in the pan. Toss everything together for about 1 minute, ensuring each dumpling is well-coated with the sweet and savory sauce. Once the sauce has nicely coated the dumplings, your Mandu Gangjeong is ready! Serve immediately while hot for the best texture and flavor.
