The nutty flavor of the soybean powder is truly addictive! The ingredients are simple, and it’s easy to make, making it a convenient treat for any time.
Main Ingredients- Macaroni 100g
- Cornstarch 80g
- Roasted Soybean Powder 40g
- Powdered Sugar 40g
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Bring a generous amount of water to a boil in a large pot. Once boiling, add 100g of macaroni. Cook for about 10 minutes, or perhaps 1-2 minutes longer than the package directions, to achieve a delightfully chewy texture. Ensure the water is plentiful to prevent sticking.
Step 2
Drain the cooked macaroni thoroughly using a colander. Spread the macaroni in a single layer on a wide, flat pan or tray. Allow it to cool completely. It’s important for the macaroni to be dry before frying to achieve maximum crispiness.
Step 3
Once the macaroni is completely cooled, place it in a bowl and add 80g of cornstarch. Toss gently to coat each piece evenly with a thin layer of cornstarch. This step is crucial for achieving a super crispy finish after frying.
Step 4
Before frying, lightly shake off any excess cornstarch that might have clumped. This prevents the starch from burning or clumping in the hot oil, ensuring a cleaner and more appealing fried result.
Step 5
Heat a sufficient amount of cooking oil in a pot to 160°C (320°F). To test the temperature, dip a wooden chopstick into the oil; if small bubbles form around it, the oil is ready. Carefully add the cornstarch-coated macaroni in batches, frying for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pot.
Step 6
Once fried, remove the macaroni with a slotted spoon and drain off excess oil on paper towels. In a large zip-top bag or bowl, combine 40g of roasted soybean powder and 40g of powdered sugar. Whisk them together until well combined and lump-free, ensuring a smooth coating.
Step 7
Add the drained, crispy fried macaroni to the bag or bowl with the soybean powder and sugar mixture. Seal the bag and shake gently, or toss carefully in the bowl, until the macaroni is evenly coated. Your delicious savory and sweet macaroni snack is now ready to enjoy immediately, or let it cool completely before storing.
