- Butter: 2 Tbsp (softened)
- Sugar: 1 Tbsp
- Minced garlic: 1 Tbsp
- Olive oil: 1 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Cut the toast bread into bite-sized pieces. If you have any leftover crusts or oddly shaped pieces from using cookie cutters, cut them into similar sizes, about 2cm thick, so they can all be used to make rusks. Ensure they aren’t too thin, as they might burn easily.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the softened butter (2 Tbsp), sugar (1 Tbsp), minced garlic (1 Tbsp), and finely chopped cucumber pepper (2 Tbsp). Mix well with a spoon or whisk until all ingredients are thoroughly combined to create the garlic butter sauce. Chopping the pepper finely will ensure it blends smoothly into the sauce without being too noticeable in texture.
Step 3
Lightly brush the bottom of your air fryer basket with olive oil (1 Tbsp) using a cooking brush. Arrange the cut bread pieces in the basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Using a teaspoon, generously spread the prepared garlic butter sauce over each piece of bread, ensuring an even coating. Finally, lightly drizzle a little more olive oil over the top of the bread for extra crispiness. Place the basket in the air fryer and cook at 165°C (329°F) for 7 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer model and the thickness of the bread, so check periodically. Remove once they are golden brown and crispy.
