  • Category : Fusion
  • Ingredient Category : Seafood
  • Occasion : Late-night snack
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • Dried Squid Jerky (Jinmi-chae) 60g (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • Peanut Butter 1.5 Tbsp
  • Butter 1/3 Tbsp
  • Sugar 1/2 Tbsp
  • Salt 2-3 pinches
  • Water 2 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, place the 60g of dried squid jerky into a large bowl. If your squid jerky is quite hard, you can briefly rinse it under cold water and squeeze out the excess moisture. Then, add 2 tablespoons of water to the bowl and gently mix it with your hands. This step helps to rehydrate the jerky and allows it to absorb the sauce better.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, it’s time to prepare the flavorful coating. To the rehydrated squid jerky, add 1.5 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter, 1/3 tablespoon of butter for richness, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar for a touch of sweetness, and 2-3 pinches of salt to balance the flavors.

Step 2

Step 3

Once all the ingredients are added, gently mix everything together with your hands, ensuring the sauce coats the squid jerky evenly. If the peanut butter or butter is too cold and difficult to mix, you can let it sit for a moment until the butter slightly softens, making it easier to combine. Continue mixing for about 1-2 minutes until the sauce is well incorporated.

Step 3

Step 4

Before cooking, line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. This is a great tip for easy cleanup! Evenly spread the coated squid jerky onto the parchment paper in a single layer.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, let’s air fry! Preheat your air fryer to 170℃ (338℉). Place the squid jerky inside and cook for 5 minutes. For a slightly crispier texture, 170℃ is perfect. If you prefer a chewier and more tender result, try cooking at 160℃ (320℉) instead.

Step 5

Step 6

About 2 minutes into the cooking time (with approximately 3 minutes remaining), open the air fryer. Give the peanut butter squid jerky a good toss or flip to ensure it cooks evenly on all sides. Continue air frying for the remaining time.

Step 6

Step 7

Voilà! Your delicious Air Fryer Peanut Butter Squid Jerky is ready. It’s incredibly fragrant with the nutty aroma of peanut butter. Enjoy it warm for the best taste. Perfect for a movie night snack or alongside your favorite beverage!
