Easy Homemade Pan-Fried Fish Cakes Recipe: Making a Crispy Snack
Let’s make delicious, crispy pan-fried fish cakes at home that are perfect for a snack or as a delightful accompaniment to a cold beer. Their delightful texture, crispy outside and chewy inside, will surely win everyone over!
Main Ingredients- 4 sheets of fish cake
- 1 sheet of parchment paper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Today, I’m going to share a recipe for incredibly simple pan-fried fish cakes. These are perfect as a crispy fried fish cake or ‘odeng’ snack, especially as a fantastic pairing with a cold beer on a hot summer day.
Step 2
Take the fish cakes directly from their packaging and slice them into your desired shapes. For easy handling, especially for children, cutting them into long stick shapes works well. You can also cut them into flat rounds or squares.
Step 3
When sliced like this, they become a wonderful snack to nibble on. On a hot summer day, you won’t need any other snacks! Place the prepared fish cakes in the air fryer basket, lined with parchment paper, arranging them in a single layer. Spreading them out without overlapping will ensure they become extra crispy.
Step 4
This might be the easiest air fryer recipe ever! First, preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and cook for 7 minutes. It’s important to check them periodically, as air fryer performance can vary between models.
Step 5
After 7 minutes, flip the fish cakes and cook for an additional 3 minutes at 180°C (350°F). The total cooking time is set for 10 minutes, but depending on your air fryer’s power, they might be done sooner or need a little longer. If they don’t seem fully cooked, add a few more minutes beyond the 3 minutes. For me, cooking for exactly 10 minutes caused them to puff up slightly, and as they cooled, they deflated a bit to achieve a wonderfully crispy texture.
