Today, I’m sharing a recipe for homemade Potato Cheese Balls. The combination of fluffy potatoes and gooey cheese is always a winner! They’re surprisingly easy to make, and I’ll guide you through each step. Get ready for a delightful snack that’s crispy on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 4 small potatoes
  • 1 bag pizza cheese (approx. 150-200g)
  • 1/3 tsp salt
  • 10g butter
  • A little milk (2-3 Tbsp)
  • A pinch of parsley flakes (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

First, peel the potatoes and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Place the cut potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl, add a little water and 1/3 teaspoon of salt. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for about 6 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. They should be soft enough to be easily pierced with a fork.

While the potatoes are still warm, mash them thoroughly. Drain any excess water from the bowl. Add the 10g of butter and about 2-3 tablespoons of milk to the warm mashed potatoes. You can adjust the amount of milk depending on the desired consistency – start with less and add more if needed. Use a spoon or a potato masher to create a smooth, lump-free mixture. The butter will melt and add a wonderful richness.

Take a portion of the mashed potato mixture and roll it into a ball. Gently press your finger into the center of the ball to create a hollow. Fill this hollow with a generous amount of pizza cheese. Carefully wrap the potato mixture around the cheese, sealing it completely to form a smooth, round ball. Make sure there are no gaps for the cheese to leak out.

Arrange the potato cheese balls in an oven-safe dish or an air fryer basket, making sure they don’t touch each other too much. Sprinkle the remaining pizza cheese over the top of the potato balls. This will create a beautifully golden and cheesy topping once baked. Bake in a preheated oven or air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 5-6 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the potato balls are lightly golden and slightly crisp on the outside.
