This recipe introduces how to perfectly crisp up ‘Gopchang-gim’ (a type of curly seaweed) in the air fryer, resulting in a delightful texture. Enjoy this simple and satisfying roasted seaweed at home.

Step 1
First, let’s learn about Gopchang-gim. Unlike regular seaweed, Gopchang-gim has wavy, curly edges that resemble the intestines of a ‘gopchang’ (intestine), hence its name. It retains the original flavor, making it even more savory and delicious.
Step 2
Now, it’s time to cut the seaweed into bite-sized pieces. Cut each sheet of Gopchang-gim into 6 equal portions with scissors. These pieces are perfect for kids’ snacks or as a side dish with rice.

Arrange the cut seaweed in the air fryer basket without overlapping them too much. I used 25 sheets. To prevent the seaweed from flying up as it cooks, it’s helpful to place chopsticks or a fork lightly on top. If your air fryer has a lid, you can also close it while cooking.
Step 4
Now, let’s set the air fryer! Roast at 180°C (350°F) for 3 minutes. It’s good to check the color of the seaweed midway through. You’ll notice it gaining a slight sheen and becoming lightly golden.
Step 5
Perfectly roasted seaweed in just 3 minutes! Using an air fryer allows you to achieve a wonderfully crispy exterior and a soft interior without any oil. Enjoy it with a warm bowl of rice!
