Ingredients

  • 5 sheets of Gim (seaweed)
  • Leftover Japchae (enough to fill)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 cup Tempura flour
  • A little water
  • 1 Tbsp Cooking oil (optional, for extra crispiness)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

We’re going to make delicious Gim-mari fritters using leftover Japchae from the fridge. This recipe uses the air fryer, making it easier and healthier than deep-frying.

Step 1

Step 2

Place a generous amount of leftover Japchae onto a sheet of Gim. Be careful not to overfill, as too much filling can cause the Gim to burst.

Step 2

Step 3

Lightly moisten the bottom edge of the Gim with a little water and roll it up tightly. This helps the Gim seal shut, preventing it from unraveling during cooking.

Step 3

Step 4

Cut the rolled Gim-mari into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm long. These are perfect for little hands to enjoy.

Step 4

Step 5

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of tempura flour and 1 egg. Gradually add a little water, mixing until you achieve a batter that is not too thin and coats the Gim well. (Optional: For extra crispiness, stir in 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.)

Step 5

Step 6

Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper and arrange the coated Gim-mari, ensuring they don’t touch each other. Place them in a preheated air fryer set to 185°C (365°F) and cook for about 13 minutes. Flipping them halfway through will ensure even cooking.

Step 6

Step 7

Your delicious Gim-mari fritters are ready! The crispy exterior and savory, soft interior are perfect for kids’ snacks or a satisfying late-night treat. Serve with ketchup or soy sauce for an extra burst of flavor!
